Plitvice Lakes NP - stunning terraced blue and green lakes
Known locally as Nacionalni Park Plitvicka Jezera is one of the oldest and largest national parks in Croatia, added to the UNESCO World Heritage list in 1979.
Plitvice Lakes National Park is a stunning natural wonder in central Croatia renowned for its 16 interconnected, cascading lakes and numerous waterfalls, including the magnificent Veliki Slap.
The park's unique landscape is constantly evolving due to a natural process where the deposition of calcium carbonate forms travertine barriers, creating the natural dams that separate the vivid blue and green lakes.
